Legal Framework

MSME registration is governed by the MSMED Act and Udyam Registration Notification — unlocking a wide range of statutory benefits for registered enterprises.

Primary Law

MSMED Act, 2006

Governs definition, registration, and benefits for micro, small, and medium enterprises in India.

Registration System

Udyam Registration Notification (MoMSME, 2020)

Replaced the earlier Udyog Aadhaar system — all businesses must newly register on the Udyam portal.

Payment Protection

MSMED Act — Section 15–23

Mandates payment to MSMEs within 45 days and provides for compound interest and MSME Samadhaan dispute resolution for delayed payments.

Government Procurement

Public Procurement Policy for MSEs, 2012

Mandates 25% procurement from MSMEs in government and PSU tenders — registration is required to avail this preference.

Client Success Stories

Got the Udyam Certificate the same day. LegalKonnect also explained all the benefits available — priority lending and the MSME Samadhaan mechanism. Very informative and fast service.
